Building Community

With the holidays approaching, now is a great time to chat with your committee to arrange a common property celebration!

  • Plan Your Celebration: Start by discussing with your committee the best way to celebrate the holidays. Whether it’s a casual get-together, a shared meal, or a themed party, the goal is to bring everyone together and foster a sense of community.
  • Advertise Your Event: Once you’ve decided on the details, organise to post signs in the common areas to advertise your gathering, or if appropriate, arrange with your building manager.
  • Spread the Cheer: A community celebration is a wonderful way to kick off the holidays and spread cheer within your community. It’s an opportunity to meet new neighbours, strengthen existing relationships, and create lasting memories.

Hosting & Noise

During the holidays, we naturally gather and host friends and family in our homes to celebrate. It’s a wonderful time to share joy and create lasting memories with loved ones. However, it’s important to be mindful of our neighbours and community during these festive gatherings.

  • Be Mindful of Noise Levels: When hosting gatherings, please be considerate of the noise levels. Loud music, conversations, and other sounds can easily travel through walls and disturb your neighbours. Keeping the volume at a reasonable level will help ensure that everyone can enjoy their time without any disruptions.
  • Respect Noise Restrictions: Most buildings have specific noise restriction timings to maintain a peaceful environment for all residents. Please be aware of these timings and make sure your celebrations do not extend beyond the allowed hours. This consideration will help prevent any disturbances and maintain harmony within the community.
  • Communicate with Neighbours: If you plan to host a larger gathering, it might be a good idea to inform your neighbours in advance. A simple heads-up can go a long way in fostering goodwill and understanding. Your neighbours will appreciate the gesture and be more accommodating.
  • Cleaning Up Post Event: Please be mindful that at this time with many people in their homes and hosting parties, there’s a high volume of waste to manage. Place rubbish and recycling in the appropriate areas.

Emergency Repairs: What to Do

Emergencies can happen at any time, and it’s helpful to know what qualifies as an urgent repair.

Issues that threaten safety or could lead to significant damage, like a burst pipe or electrical faults, fall into this category. If you have an emergency repair, contact your strata manager. If your emergency happens after hours, please contact our 24/7 Emergency After Hours Service at 1300 092 863.

Supporting a Community

Case Study: Showing Up in Times of Need: The 2023 Christmas Tornado on Hope Island

Last year, Hope Island was hit with a devastating EF2 tornado on Christmas night. This destructive storm tore through Hope Island with wind gusts of up to 220km, wreaking havoc through the Christmas celebrations of the residents. Our Hope Island Resort was in chaos, with destruction throughout, debris everywhere and many without power. By 7 a.m. the following day, our team, along with the Johns Lyng Group Make Safe team, Hope Island Resort Security, committee members, residents and an army of contractors, were on the ground to get to work in restoring the community. The clean-up ensued, and immediate planning to rebuild the damage commenced to ensure the Hope Island community was safe as promptly as possible. This act of teamwork amongst our team and JLG is an evident example of the benefits of our connection with one another and how swiftly we can band together and unite in urgent times of need to keep our communities safe.

Our Commitment to Transparency

From family business origins to our position today as one of the largest strata and community management companies, we are proud to be a part of Johns Lyng Group (JLG). Their investment, as of 2022 representing 80% ownership, has given us the ability to serve more Australians, provide more employment opportunities and offer exclusive customer benefits. A little-known fact: our business leaders have retained the remaining 20% ownership.

Bright & Duggan operates independently from our parent company and receives no financial benefit, referral or income from the engagement of a JLG-related entity. Rest assured, customer choice and satisfaction will always remain at the forefront of our service delivery. Our systems are of the highest ethical standards and adhere to the full corporate disclosure criteria of our ASX-listing obligations.
