Strata Community Association (NSW) | A New Era of Professionalism – Accountability, Recognition & Consumer Protection

Our peak industry body, Strata Community Association (NSW) is excited to announce the commencement of a Professional Standards Scheme from the start of July 2021.

The Professional Standards Scheme is a momentous achievement for the strata industry because:.

  • It is the first of its kind in Australia for a property services association.  With the valued support of the State Government and the Office of Fair Trading, it places NSW first in consumer protection and in enhancing the professionalism of strata managers.
  • First in establishing an independent complaints mechanism for consumers.
  • First in providing more assistance to the NSW Office of Fair Trading to take action against legitimate consumer complaints.
  • First in establishing a uniform Code of Ethics for strata managers.

SCA (NSW) will be responsible to regulate and monitor their members to make sure they uphold these standards through education, guidance, monitoring and enforcement, along with numerous other practical measures. These new requirements will play an important role in further protecting consumers.

The scheme will focus on improving professional standards of strata managers through self-regulation initiatives, ongoing professional development and a robust code of conduct, supervised by the independent Professional Standards Council of NSW.
